Putting it on Paper

  


  Maybe it's the spirit of spring. Maybe I am just in a creative mood. Lately, I find myself with ideas floating through my head. Some are worth exploring and others are rubbish. Still, if I don't get them jotted down somewhere they are gone. I am starting to amass lists and notes all over my house. Creating a better system is another thought I literally just wrote down. Anyway... I thought it might be fun today to spend a few minutes on focused brainstorming. A journal page devoted to a "brain dump" is nothing new. But, I am putting a bit of a twist on this one. Your goal is to zero in on just your creative ideas. No other rules apply. Just record. What pops into your head? A Halloween costume for a ferret?  A tie dye gender reveal party? Postcard themed quilt? Devote a chunk of time to this page and see what your mind reveals. You may have just stumbled upon an amazing idea.

Fun with Yard Decorations

      As Halloween approaches, people start to decorate their homes and porches for the holiday. People's individual creativity is prominent with such a large variety of accessories. Window clings, foam headstones, and plastic skeletons help create all sorts of delightful scenes. Some are are funny. Some are ghoulish and some are so amazing they become the talk of the town. It's entertaining to experience all these efforts by driving around your area. Night or day, the scenes are likely to bring you (and your companions) a smile. One way to extend your enjoyment is to make a scavenger hunt. Make a list of things you are likely to see or use mine below. Then attach it to your journal for as a reminder of the fun you had. You don't even need to make it a one time event. You could also just write out a list in your journal and check it off as you go about your daily routine. Holiday Spirit

 Did you scoff when you read that title? I am aware that many of us are not feeling as joyful this season. It is as though a collective ennui has descended upon us all. That's okay. Pushing ourselves to have the "Best holiday season ever!" year after year is draining and ultimately unattainable. If, by chance, you did have a spectacular last few weeks, stop reading and start recording it all in your journal. This was your year. Enjoy it to the fullest! As for the rest of us, I think it might be nice to drum up a little holiday cheer with the time we have left. Decide to do something small to bring yourself a bit happiness. It could be as simple as cutting snowflakes out of scrap paper or taking a walk to see the neighborhood lights. Then, make the loveliest page you can about it.
