Let's Nominate a Few Standouts

The new year is here! It's also January. Many do not find this month to be among their favorites regardless of the stressful events that 2025 has been delivering. The weather alone is giving us an excuse to crack open that bottle of wine left over from the holidays. Still, we can take comfort in many of our usual past times like watching movies. I love a good film anytime but it is especially nice on a cold winter night. Coincidentally, it is also the time of year when we start to here about awards. Both the Razzie and Oscar nominations came out recently.  If you love to debate their choices, go ahead and make a page about that today. However, I have another idea that you might find intriguing. Cinema is an expansive topic with endless detail. What if we explored some of the minor ones, just for fun? Have you ever scoffed at an "ancient" ruin with a stone that slides efffortlessly to reveal a secret tunnel? I know I have. Come on, the windows on my house stick every spring. I think it might take a little bit more effort to make that stone work its magic. What about those pristine attics with a well organized trunk containing a key plot device just sitting there on top not even wrapped in paper? Funny how nobody remembered it when frequent trips were taken up there to keep the area so clean and neat. Have you ever seen a "signature" treat highlighted that sounds truly horrible? What about mountains five miles from the New Jersey shore? Yeah, nope. My list is rather long. I bet yours is too. Take a few minutes to award films for these silly details and give yourself a laugh. We all could use a little extra sunshine this winter.

Award ideas to get you started...

*Did not bother to research

*Laughable time line

*The laws of physics and other scientific principles did not apply

*Largest apartment bathroom

*Best lit basement

*Most unrealistic housing situtation

*Do they not pay taxes?!?

*Ridiculously easy fixes

*Unrealistic skill sets (think Princess Leia, royal senator, knowing how to weld)

*Cooking/baking abominations

Be it at the theater or at home enjoying your favorite network's seasonal hit, I'm sure you'll find plenty to fill your list. Have fun!
